THE APOLLO

The Apollo Theater, opened in 1934, has become a hub for black musicians, poets, dancers and comedians. Since 1934, Amateur Night at the Apollo has featured such acts as Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder, and has served as "the model for Star Search and American Idol." --Apollo Theater.

Amateur Night continues as a mainstay today and includes comedy, music, poetry and dance.
