- What was your impression of the theater? The audience? How would you describe the Apollo Theater and its culture?
- Comment on one of the performers. Who do you think was most interesting and why? How do they relate to African-American music or poetry, and (if it comes up) how do they deal with racial issues, their feelings about white culture versus their own culture?
Welcome to the Harlem Renaissance Blog! The purpose of this forum is to explore why the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s is so important today. In areas of art, poetry, music and dance, we can still find personal and historical connections. I hope you will find creative ways to write about, learn from and celebrate this period in American history (1919-1940)
